Having Discomfort After New Market Dental Crown Placement
It is quite normal to feel some discomfort immediately after a dental crown placement. It may mean that your tooth is feeling the effect of all that enamel I took out of it.
While performing the dental crown placement procedure, much of the enamel has to go. Indeed, I file away most of it. Possibly even all. The tooth's nerves will feel tender and respond to friction, pressure and temperature changes. Because of this, you will feel that tingle after the new dental crown is installed. This should disappear within two days.
The crown that we put on may also be a tad tall. This would go back to the dental technician in producing the crown according to my measurements. Now, either I etch off some of the upper parts of the dental crown, or order another crown from the technician.
Then again, it might just be that the crown doesn't fit, period. This means that the inner, hollow part of the dental crown is slightly below or above our specifications. In addition, the circumference and width may not be right for the supporting tooth root that was originally made.
If we have a gold dental crown or an amalgam of gold and porcelain, it makes the whole corrective process a lot easier. The softness of gold makes it easily pliable, so there is little problem. If we were to use porcelain dental crowns, there could be more work to do when the technicians in the lab undertake the necessary changes.
In any event, we want you to go away satisfied. We truly hope that you are happy with the final product. We don't want you leaving this office without feeling a million dollars, in comfort and your looks. We don't take the major decisions, you do. You must feel in control of the entire procedure. We are simply there to offer our skills and hardware so that your dreams and ambitions come true.
