Dental crowns can be found in a wide variety of substances (think titanium, chromium, and palladium). I mix these materials together in the course of your visit to my New Market office, so you can give some thought to which one will work best for you. New Market dentist Fotolia_4363635_XS.jpg

At New Market, we don't mass produce our crowns, as each person will require something unique. I start by studying your tooth. Have the cusps or tips been worn down? Does the tooth have a little crater, and how big is that compared to the tooth taken as a complete unit? Has there been a fracture that almost cut the tooth in half?

Then I measure the vital statistics and get an indent of the tooth. All this data is then communicated to the dental technician–who is a master craftsman, who spends a lot of time making sure your dental crown will fit properly.

If we decide to put on a precious metal dental crown, then I may have to remove a small portion of the enamel your tooth is wrapped in. Or, if it's a non-metal New Market dental crown, we may be required to find the dentine in the inside of the tooth by grinding it down.

Needless to say, ahead of any dental procedure, we take a lot of time to discuss anything dangerous that could happen, as well as all the good things you will gain. Subsequently, once all the cards have been laid on the table, the patient picks the path he wants to walk.

Ahead of getting the crown that will stay with you for a long time, a temporary crown will be put in. I do this because I want to make absolutely sure that your teeth won't be giving you difficulty with sensitivity. The moment we finish the permanent crown, it will be matched to the color tone of the other teeth in your mouth. Moreover, you will be required to bite down a couple of times, so I know that the technician made the crown properly.

After we are both happy, at that time, I will get everything wrapped on, and then you can let your smile loose on the world.
